The combination of half term and Halloween is the perfect excuse to get the kids in the kitchen having some messy fun with flour and icing. This week, inspired by the LaLaLoopsy Character Crumbs Sugar Cookie, we set about ‘killing’ an hour or two creating some spooky bakes to offer our Halloween birthday girls guests.
In all honesty, unlike Crumbs Sugar Cookie, baking isn’t my party trick, so an easy mix option worked magic for the kids and I for this activity. The girls just loved getting dressed up in their baking gear, having fun rolling and cutting shapes, icing the ghoulies and of course…licking every sugary surface on offer.
The LaLaLoopsy crew sent us over a large Crumbs Sugar Cookie doll to review, and having deliberated how we would ever encourage the two girls to share this one doll, we used a sneaky tactic. Given the Mouse turned three this week, we were able to put chief toy tester duties on Tigs, whilst her sister was heavily distracted by mountains of gifts from generous friends and family. Win:Win.
Lalaloopsy were once rag dolls who magically came to life when their last stitch was sewn. Cute and wholesome, Lalaloopsy offers girls a whimsical world of characters with unique personalities drawn from the fabric used to sew them, and aims to teach children that everyone is unique with different personalities and styles.
This year a new range of large Lalaloopsy dolls based on the Netflix animated series have been launched, which for the first time ever have real hair.
The LaLaLoopsys we have had before have been teeny tiny hard figures which the girls have delicately set out into little arrangements. This large doll couldn’t be more different – approximately 30cm tall, with ‘real’ (synthetic) pink hair that can be brushed and played with, and dressed with her black bow headband . Her button eyes and stitched on smile are friendly and warm, and her yellow gingham dress and pinny made with real fabric is completely charming.
The large box also contains Crumbs sugar cookie’s pet mouse and a brush to allow it’s new owner to groom and pamper that magnificent pink barnet.
Crumbs Sugar Cookie is packaged within her kitchen, and would therefore be a brilliant gift for a little baker in the making.
Our daughter is five, and the perfect age for the LaLaLoopsy large doll range. Whilst she hasn’t discovered the TV series (yet) Crumbs sugar cookie has been a huge hit. Crumbs has been the perfect decoy for any birthday present envy as Tig’s has been totally absorbed in imaginative play with her new buddy.
If you can get your hands on one of these large LaLaLoopsy dolls in time for Christmas, you’ll be sure to have some happy little kiddos on your hands! I have a feeling our daughter wouldn’t mind a little (large) LaLaLoopsy buddy for her new BFF Crumbs…
