Choosing a Motability car

Let’s face it finding a new car can be a challenge. It’s a big purchase, so it’s important to make sure you get it right for you and your family. For those looking for a car through the Motability scheme, the search can be even harder.

When looking for a Motability car, you need to consider more factors to ensure it is available with the adaptations you need. Many may think this will mean sacrificing the car they’d really want and opting for a practical but often dull-looking vehicle.

But just because you need a Motability car, it doesn’t mean you should have to accept compromise. Nowadays, the majority of manufacturers offer a wide range of their cars through the Motability scheme. This means you no longer have to miss out on having the stylish car you really want.

Depending on your needs, there are a whole host of options available from chic city cars and sleek saloons to stylish SUVs and handsome hatchbacks. So getting the car you want is often more achievable than you may have first thought.

Plus thanks to the development of car technology, many of these cars now offer the comfort and convenience that will make day to day life easier. For example, heated seats can provide much-needed relief for people suffering from chronic pain conditions and make otherwise unbearable journeys more comfortable.

It doesn’t end there though, as there are numerous additional adaptations which can be made to vehicles, to ensure they’re perfect no matter what your requirements. For example, many cars are available with a raised seating position, which can make it easier for people who find it difficult to get in and out of a car.

For those who need alterations to the driving controls there are a multitude of options. For example, a braking device can be fitted on the steering wheel if using the conventional pedal would be a struggle. Accommodating a wheelchair is not an issue either. Adaptations can be made to the boot to add a wheelchair hoist, so loading and unloading a wheelchair is a doddle.

The real plus though, is that since many of these changes take place on the interior, you won’t alter the look or feel of your desired car.

The best place to start your Motability car-buying journey is to take a look at available Motability cars to see which cars not only work for you, but you like the look of.
