Girls Bedroom Ideas; Needing inspiration…

You may be starting to gather that I love a bit of tinkering around with rooms at home…

It’s been a couple of years since we decorated either of the girls’ rooms. For Tigs, we went for the trademark white walls, brightened up with a feature wall of pastel fitted wardrobes. The colours were all left overs from odds and ends around the house and the splash of colour is just enough to brighten up the wall without being too garish. We also upcycled an old drawer unit to match.

We opted for wall stickers on one of the plain walls- the first time I had ever used them. There are loads of gorgeous designs you can buy online, and in the end we decided on a colourful tree with animals. It only cost about £12 and really brought the room together. There are thousands of girls bedroom ideas online if you get stuck for inspiration.

We integrated the woodland animal theme with the furniture by replacing all the doorknobs with a beautiful set by Sass & Belle, featuring Owls, hedgehogs and squirrels. It became a bit of a family joke, my obsession with googling doorknobs…but the research paid off and the finished effect was worth every second of online scrutiny!

Woodland animals are a pretty ‘available’ option these days…the only trouble you have is resisting buying every cushion, doorstop, picture, stuffed toy you see…It was fairly easy to find a blind, duvet set, lampshade, sidelamp, rug to match our theme.

As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. But I can’t help wondering if the wall stickers could be freshened up with something a little less generic? The wall could certainly do with a fresh coat of white – I’m quite keen to put the ‘removability’ of wall stickers to the test…and I’m only surprised our enquisitive daughter hasn’t already done exactly that.

In the quest to find something unique, I’ve been searching through a fab source of inspiration for the home – Homify. It is somewhat pinterest-esque but specifically for ideas around the home. Constantly being updated, prepare to lose hours as you daydream about the endless possibilities…

Maybe, my owl tree sticker might just be retired in favour of something a little more…special…

Lovely room you’ve decorated. I love the woodland door knobs. I look forward to see how it will look after the refurb. 🙂
