I’m not sure how many shoes is too many shoes, but I’d take a guess that the number squirreled away in every corner of every cupboard, wardrobe and storage space is probably a good sign I’m at max capacity.
But the thing is, shoes are just my thing, and I really cannot resist a bargain, a quality find, or most of all, something with the wow factor.
There is one shoe which, for me, reigns high above all others. It is the master of multitude and can take any outfit to the bridge with its classic yet uber cool style; The Chelsea boot.
Unlike a sandal, the almighty flip flop, or even the trainer, a chelsea boot can be worn all year round to both formal or casual occasions and yet with it’s practical flat heel it combines both style and functionality.
I’m a huge fan of a Chelsea boot with a leather jacket, jeans and top combo for a night out, having long since given up with partying in heels. Or prettying it up with a floral ditsy dress (taking the frilly edge off the look and rocking it up a little) either in the daytime or for a day to night outfit.
Of course despite being simple in it’s design, it’s the detail on a Chelsea boot which has the ability to catch your eye and make you believe you cannot live without it. Be it in the heel, the trimmings, the colour or the pattern. Because no two Chelsea boots were created equal… and so becomes the problem that you can totally justify the black, green, tan, beaded trim, block heel, military style, embroidered and so on.
Today however, I am here to introduce the latest to my collection; the Rydale Clothing Ladies Kirby Chelsea boot, in cognac and animal print. At £65 (currently reduced to £50) it’s a good value decent leather boot that is built for country life, but wouldn’t look out of place in suburbia too.
Given the opportunity to sample a piece from Rydales wide range of equestrian and country clothing line, it didn’t take long for me to stop, rewind and fixate on these beauties. The Rydale ladies Chelsea boot collection is one to stop you in your tracks.
Made with a soft tan leather and finished with a faux animal print hide on the heel panels, these boots are bang on trend. With animal print not set to be going anywhere anytime soon, these high quality boots will see you right through season after season for years to come.
Slim fitting and with an elasticated pull on style, the Kirby Chelsea boot is the perfect shoe to team with skinny jeans or a dress or skirt for an eye catching detail – whether you keep your clothes simple or clash it up.
I’ve been caught out before by stiff leather boots which take weeks to break in, braving through the blisters, but these shoes arrived soft and dance floor ready. The in sole is cushioned, making these the most comfortable boots in my wardrobe yet.
The external sole is a bouncy but durable rubber sole, detailed with an anti grip pattern. I am however very choosy about the appearance of a sole, and this boot passed my test for not looking plastic or cheap. Everything about these boots screams quality.
The only bad thing about these boots is that thanks to Covid-19, the most exciting place they’ll be worn to is the supermarket, but the day will come, and what a day that will be.
