This weeks #coolmumclub Meet the members is the last one for three weeks while I go on a little break for half term, and our family holiday. So I’ll leave you with Morgan Prince, off of Morgans Milieu, If there was a word that described Morgans blog it would be lovely. She comes across as gentle and kind, and we share a dislike for Jeremy Kyle! There has to be better things to do than watch that stuff, right?!
Enjoy. and if you would like to be featured in the Meet the members series when I return from my break, please drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hi, I’m Morgan.
Okay, so that’s as far as I got before I started to struggle with what to write. You see, I’m great at coming up with ideas for blog posts and getting on with writing them but when it comes to writing about myself my mind goes blank.
I’ve never been great at telling people about myself, I feel like I’m bragging, and I’m really not! I can’t stand people who go on and on about how wonderful they are, can you?
So anyway, I’m Morgan, Mum to LP (just turned 7) and BP (turns 12 in August), and wife to the Hubby. LP is our little entertainer, he’s full of energy all of the time and loves nothing more than being outside playing football or basketball. BP is the quiet one, and at the moment the stroppy one. He’s our tween, our creative, and he loves to write (wonder where he gets that from?). The Hubby is my rock, we’ve been together for nearly 14 years. He makes mobile games (like Candy Crush, Crossy Road) and works at home, which works out great for us.
Living in a house full of boys has its challenges, but to be honest I wouldn’t have it any other way. Although they do things that drive me absolutely crazy (like not changing the toilet roll – AARRGH!!) they are so loving that a rib-crushing hug makes up for it all.
So does the fact that I get to have a house full of lego and no one bats an eyelid. I love lego. The Taj Mahal, the Palace Theatre, the Tower Bridge, and many more sets are a part of my collection and I intend to keep collecting.
Being the only girl in a house full of boys can lead to insanity though (or so I’ve heard) and so I turned to blogging in order to have something just for me. Actually to tell the truth I started out writing a novel, and started a blog alongside that. After a while though I decided I loved blogging much more than writing the novel and put it aside.
Writing posts on Morgan’s Milieu is my outlet. I love to write, whether that’s creatively or not, writing has always been a part of me. The words flow from me as my fingers fly across the keyboard and I feel a release. Writing is therapy, it is a chance to voice fears without actually giving them a ‘voice’. For some reason I find it much easier to write than I do to talk.
That’s probably why the majority of my friends are people I’ve met online. Some I have met in real life and some I may never meet, but they’re all friends.
The friendships are probably the thing I love most about blogging. I’ve made connections with people that totally ‘get’ me without having spoken to me. I’ve had people help me out when I’ve been feeling down, and I’ve been able to help others too.
I blog when my boys are at school. Between 9am and 3:15pm is my blogging time, allowing time for lunch of course, with the occasional evening in there too. In that time I get to write posts, host a linky (#PoCoLo), and showcase other fantastic bloggers.
Blogging doesn’t yet pay the bills but my boys know that when they’re at school I ‘work’. They see my blog as my work and think it’s great that they benefit occasionally when they’re asked to try out new toys or go to some event.
For me blogging is my thing, it’s what I do. If it wasn’t for blogging I’d be a bored SAHM with nothing else to do but watch daytime TV. And I cannot give Jeremy Kyle another viewer, I just couldn’t forgive myself!
Huh. It turns out that wasn’t so hard after all.
Thanks so much to MMT for having me. x
