#coolmumclub: Meet the members…Just Saying Mum

Do you ever imagine your future? When the tots have grown into beautiful young adults, your best friends, the ones you confide in, holiday with and giggle with. Me too. I basically want to be Helen, Just Saying Mum in the future. Her stunning brood are going places and she is on a path to success of her very own. Her blog has evolved into something pretty spesh since I first found it, and I’m happy to think of her as one of my blogging pals. I just can’t believe it’s taken me this long to feature her in this series, #JustSaying.

Thanks so much for taking part Helen, lovely to find out a little more about you! (I love an exclamation mark too).

x MMT

Hi! I’m so excited to have been asked to write a post for the Meet The Member series because, apart from being the coolest of cool linkys, it was my first ever linky I joined all those months ago when I first started blogging. Talya and Sarah hold a really special place in my heart as do all you gorgeous members, of course! Ah, I should point out here that I do love an exclamation mark. I am generally a very over excitable person and my life demands exclamation marks left right and centre so bear with me! Oops it’s almost a habit. Phew a full stop actually made an appearance.

So, what can I tell you about me? Well, I’m Helen and am married to the most handsome man, who is in fact my childhood sweetheart, and we have three amazing teenagers. Georgia is our eldest daughter at 17, Ella is 15 and Sammy 13. Oh and boy do they do what teenagers excel at doing – being teenagers! I jest, they are totally fabulous and they make me smile, laugh and burst with pride every single day. Yes, I am that cringey about it because I honestly feel that way – white Instagram perfect picture all the way! Oh of course there are days that are less fun and games but that is what being a parent is all about and you have to find the best way of managing those days because like it or not that is your role! Hey, they’ve never been teens before and that can be tough and I’ve never had teens before so I’m learning too – my own adolescent behaviour has certainly reared its head during parenting I am sure – my children will certainly vouch for that!

OK, so why did I start blogging? Honest reason? Because I thought I could go viral like the Unmumsy Mum. I’m not even joking. I haven’t even added an exclamation mark as the statement is too awful to punctuate and give any more attention to so swiftly moving on to the second reason and the one that is banded about more freely! My eldest daughter, Georgia, is a model (and now an actress – eek!) and as she’s under 18 I am her chaperone so literally spend hour after hour sitting in a freezing studio as she gets changed into the 50th outfit of the day. It’s not as fun as it sounds, I promise. Oh, of course, there are some fabulous experiences but in general it involves a lot of sitting and waiting so, having always loved reading blogs and writing I thought I’d give it a go. And, just like that, justsayingmum was created based on my three always ending every sentence with … just saying. It started mainly as a musings of raising three teens but sometimes it isn’t always funny so there have been some heartfelt blogs along the way. Mainly, though, I try to focus on raising positive teens.

I have loved every minute of it and have been blown away with the total gorgeousness of the blogging community. Never a dull moment! But I don’t only blog. I have also started vlogging and am really keen to grow my YouTube channel as I embark on a series of justsayingmum chat show style vlogs interviewing other bloggers about their blog! Please get in touch if you’d like to be part of this … come on you know you want to!

So, when I’m not blogging? It’s hard to remember that I do something other than write some days but I am a piano and songwriter teacher, which I totally adore. In fact, I’d love to be in a band when I grow up – anyone want to join me? Let’s do it! Never too old and dreams aren’t just for the young!

Well, that’s me. That’s my little part of the blogging community carved out for all to see. Come and say hello on social media – I’ll leave my links below and I hope to chat to some of you soon on the vlog … just saying!

Thanks a million for having me girls.

So lovely to hear some more about Helen and find out she is a woman of further hidden talents other than being mum to three gorgeous children and hosting a fab blog. I love reading her blog and comparing teenage stories. Keep up the good work Helen. #coolmumclub

I’ve loved reading more about you Helen, and my God you’ve got some beautiful kids! Your blog is so unique to me because of the age of your kids and it is so refreshing and often downright hilarious at times to read about the trials and tribulations of raising teenagers xx #coolmumclub

So nice reading more about you Helen. Incredible you know how to play the piano and you’re a teacher. Skills!
I’m lucky that I’ve met you in person. Love your energy. You already know how you inspired me to not be shy about my time in fashion.
Excited about your vlog chats. Fab blogging helps to make the time waiting around in random places (and outside!) go by quicker. So I’ll join your band – I can play the tambourine or the triangle. 😉

How blimmin gorgeous are your children Helen? I have littlies so the idea of teens tends to summon images of stroppy faces and bad hair (Reflecting on my own teen years it would seem?) Your family all look so happy and glowy and positive! I love your ethos to parenting and I will have your blog firmly book marked to live by when the teens are upon us! Lovely to read your story. Xx

    Thanks MMT! Xx #coolmumclub

Lovely to hear more about Helen and her family. I know what you mean about wanting to be just like her when you get older, I do too! I follow her on instagram and wow, just wow! Will be sure to make sure I pop by the blog a little more often. Might be worth storing up any tips I can find on parenting teenagers as early as possible.

Oh I love an exclamation mark too. I really do. I never realised how irritating people found them until recently. I mean what’s wrong with using exclamation marks? They help set the tone I think. I have read a few posts of yours before and I remember reading about your eldest daughter being a model and remember thinking how hectic but exciting your lives must be.

Thanks for sharing with us on #coolmumclub

Seriously though, I’m a big fan of Helen’s blog and I aspire to be a parent-to-teens like her! She always talks with such positivity about a job that is often portrayed as a nightmare in the media. It’s lovely to find out a bit more about you, Helen #CoolMumClub

Ahhh this is great Helen, I already bow down to you and your relationship your gorgeous brood. As I’ve mentioned on your posts before I’m DREADING the teenage years but your blog has given me hope that it won’t be ALL door-slamming and eye-rolling (hang on, I already have a 5yr old who is well practiced in both those things – uh oh!) Ooh I want to be a drummer when I grow up so sign me up to the band 🙂 #coolmumclub
