I wasn’t consciously setting out this past month to revamp my make-up bag. It just kind of happened. Ooops. With a combination of Birthday gifts, a little spending money and vouchers in cards, plus the irresistible lure of Duty free shopping on holiday, and some not-to-be-missed bargains I can of course forgive myself for falling off the #HideTheBags wagon. more “#HideTheBags: Summer beauty product splurge”
It’s fair to say my bed is my haven. King size, solid oak, smothered in a duck down duvet (all year round) and the place I can be found far too often snuggled up in, post 9pm. (We have been blessed with early risers). Whilst winter is all about the cosy, the warmth and the cuddles…I get pretty excited about the fresh luxury of a summer bed too. After all, there is nothing like the sensation of collapsing into a cloud of freshly laundered linen on a warm summers evening, windows wide open and a gentle evening breeze cooling down the heat of the day. more “#HideTheBags: Botanical bedding and duvets”
As a ‘phase 2’ project to last years ‘Big Build‘, this spring we have focussed on getting the garden Summer ready. That meant decommissioning an unused garage, ripping up some awful patio, and creating a new area to play, and enjoy some outdoor living. Being on a budget, using a ‘find the bargain’ site like BargainBuysForBusyMums was a massive help to avoid paying full price on some outdoor toys for the kids. more “#HideTheBags: Garden toys for the kids”
There hasn’t been much bag hiding going on so far this year. The indulgence and spending of Christmas, and a busy few months have meant I have had to learn a bit of self-constraint when it comes to naughty impulse buys. more “#Hidethebags: House of Fraser Spring wish list”
Okay, okay…so it’s not quite Christmas but we are DEFINITELY now in December and that means all you Mums and Dads are probably busy scouring the shops and the web for those special gifts to make the big day magical. Some of you won’t have started, and some of you will smugly be admiring your parcels already wrapped, stockings stuffed. Either way, there will definitely be a lot of hiding of bags going on in homes everywhere.

I know you might be thinking that I was supposed to be on a budget (Ker-chinging in the changes: Mum on a Budget) since being made redundant. But you know what comes with being made redundant after 14 years service? A very happy payday. And I do need an outfit for Dangermouses christening…and a new coat (since Mr G spotted the 60-odd year old market trader off of Eastenders has the same one as me, which is falling apart).
So, I decided to do a spot of shopping that for once, did not involve Primarni or a food shopping trip turned clothing section accident.

The evening temperatures are definitely dropping, and there’s nothing nicer than digging out the cosy clothes from the wardrobe at the end of the summer and getting ready to get snuggled up.
Normally, it’s a chance for me to maybe invest in a couple of work bits to see me through the season, but this year, my work uniform will be a little different, so why not invest in some SAHM work clothes 🙂

Much to the dismay of my husband, I have an affinity towards beautiful things and as such have a problem staying away from ‘stuff’.
Living way too close to one of the largest shopping malls in the UK, Bluewater, is therefore a bit of an occupational hazard for us local Mums. The baby facilities are way too good, resulting in frequent hiding of shopping hauls.
It’s too good an opportunity to not blog about, so welcome to my hopefully, regular (sorry Mr G) feature: hide the bags.
